This Privacy Policy explains how AI-Guide ("we", "us", or "our") collects, uses, and protects your information when you use:

• The AI-Guide desktop application (the "App")
• The AI-Guide website at https://ai-guide-app.com (the "Site")
• Any related services, features, or content (together, the "Services")

By using the Services, you agree to this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the Services.

2. Data we collect

We designed AI-Guide to be privacy-first. We do not permanently store screenshots or raw screen contents.

We collect the following categories of data:

2.1 Information you provide directly

• Account information
  • Email address
  • Name or nickname (optional)
  • Password or authentication from a third-party provider (e.g. Google)
• Subscription and billing data
  • Plan type (Free / Pro / other)
  • Purchase identifiers and subscription status via third-party billing provider (e.g. RevenueCat, App Store, Play Store)
  • Country and currency (where provided by the store)
• Support communications
  • Emails or messages you send to support
  • Feedback or bug reports sent from within the App

2.2 Data collected when you use the App

• Usage analytics (high-level)
  • Features used (e.g. "Explain this screen", "Troubleshoot error")
  • Count of AI requests and tokens used
  • Timestamps and performance data (e.g. response times)
  • Application version and basic device information (OS type and version)
• Screen analysis data (ephemeral)
  • Screen images or regions you explicitly send to AI-Guide for analysis
  • Text extracted from those images
  • AI responses generated for you

Important:

• Screen images and extracted text are processed in memory by our backend and our AI providers (e.g. Azure OpenAI).
• We do not permanently store screenshots.
• Logs and analytics contain only high-level metadata and text summaries, never full images.

2.3 Data collected on the website

On ai-guide-app.com, we may collect:

• Standard web logs: IP address, browser type, pages visited, timestamps.
• Cookie-free analytics: We may use a privacy-friendly analytics service (such as Plausible) that does not use cookies or cross-site tracking.

We do not use third-party advertising cookies.

3. How we use your data

We use your data to:

1. Provide and maintain the Services
   • Authenticate you and keep your session secure
   • Deliver AI guidance and suggestions
   • Ensure the App works across different devices and OS versions
2. Operate subscriptions and billing
   • Manage free and paid plans
   • Verify purchases via RevenueCat or similar providers
   • Communicate about renewals, plan changes, or payment issues
3. Improve AI-Guide
   • Understand which features people use
   • Diagnose errors and performance issues
   • Prioritize new features and improvements
4. Protect security and prevent abuse
   • Detect and prevent fraud, abuse, or misuse
   • Enforce our Terms of Service
   • Comply with legal obligations

We do not sell your personal data.

4. Legal bases for processing (EEA/UK users)

If you are in the EEA or UK, we process your personal data on the following legal bases:

• Contract – to provide the Services you request (e.g. your account and subscription)
• Legitimate interests – to maintain and improve our Services, keep them secure, and prevent abuse
• Consent – where required (e.g. optional marketing emails)
• Legal obligations – where we must comply with applicable laws

We share your data only when necessary to operate the Services:

5.1 Service providers

We use trusted third-party providers, for example:

• Cloud infrastructure & AI: Microsoft Azure, Azure OpenAI
• Database & authentication: Supabase
• Billing & subscriptions: RevenueCat, app stores or payment processors
• Analytics: Privacy-friendly analytics (e.g. Plausible)
• Error monitoring & logging: Cloud logging providers

These providers process data on our behalf and are bound by contracts requiring confidentiality and appropriate security.

5.2 Legal and safety

We may disclose information if we believe it is reasonably necessary to:

• Comply with a law, regulation, legal process, or government request;
• Protect the safety, rights, or property of AI-Guide, our users, or the public;
• Enforce our Terms of Service or prevent fraud or abuse.

We do not sell or rent your personal data to third parties.

6. International transfers

Our servers and some of our service providers may be located in countries outside your own. Where required by law, we use appropriate safeguards (such as standard contractual clauses) to protect personal data transferred internationally.

7. Data retention

We keep your personal data only as long as necessary for the purposes described in this policy:

• Account and subscription data: kept while your account is active and for a reasonable period afterwards for record-keeping and legal compliance.
• Log and analytics data: retained for limited periods for security and performance analysis.
• Screen images: retained only in memory during processing and not stored persistently.

You can request deletion of your account and associated data at any time (see section 9).

8. Your rights

Depending on your location, you may have the right to:

• Access a copy of your personal data
• Correct inaccurate or incomplete data
• Request deletion of your data ("right to be forgotten")
• Restrict or object to processing in certain cases
• Receive your data in a portable format (where applicable)

9. Your choices

• You can update your account details in the App where available.
• You can request account deletion by contacting support@ai-guide-app.com.
• You can opt out of non-essential emails using the unsubscribe link in those emails.

10. Security

We use appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect your data, including:

• Encrypted connections (HTTPS/TLS)
• Access controls and auditing on our servers
• Separation of environments (development / staging / production)
• Principle of least privilege for staff and services

No system is 100% secure, but we work continuously to protect your information. See our dedicated Security page for more details.

11. Children's privacy

AI-Guide is not intended for children under 16. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 16. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us so we can delete it.

12. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will update the "Last updated" date at the top, and where appropriate, notify you in the App or by email.
